I grew up on a farm in Central Indiana, riding and showing horses in a variety of events through college. I knew I wanted to be a writer from the very beginning, and I set my sights on that goal in high school. Upon graduation from Murray State University, with a degree in Print Journalism (and a minor in Equine Science), I served two different internships: one with the media relations department of Hoosier Park Racetrack during the Fall Thoroughbred/Quarter Horse race meet, and the other with the publications department at the American Quarter Horse Association. Through that internship I headed in the direction I am in now. I’ve worked with national and international publications in many different respects, such as editorial assistant, photo editor, web producer, contributing writer, etc. I’m knowledgeable in many aspects of the print and digital publishing industry.

Now I am a freelance writer based in Central Indiana specializing in editorial content mostly for equine publications, but with the flexibility and drive to learn about new industries, such as home services companies, dog-related publications and retail and businesses. I spent over a year working with an advertising agency as a social media manager where I wrote monthly blog posts for home services companies as well as managed their online reputation and social media channels. This type of experience opened my eyes to the world of agency work as well as a more costumer service based action. I am experienced in not only print and web content curation, but also promotion, social media, and analytics.
I can help smaller business build a marketing plan including press releases and social media presence.
Current publications include the American Quarter Horse Journal, Equine Chronicle, Horse Illustrated, NRHA Reiner, Paint Horse Journal, Dogster Magazine, and Midwest Harness Report. I have worked with digital publications such as EquineChronicle.com, PaulickReport.com, BloodHorse.com, and QuarterHorseNews.com.
I am a member of the Turf Publicists of America and the American Horse Publications.
